Safety Certificate

As of June 16, 2019, the provisions related to issuing the Single Safety Certificates following Directive (EU) 2016/798 on railway safety are in force in the Republic of Bulgaria. Part of these provisions have been transposed by the amendments of March 8, 2019, to the Railway Transport Act.

Applicants should apply for a Single Safety Certificate through the One-Stop-Shop system referred to in Article 12 of Regulation (EU) 2016/796 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 2016 on the European Union Agency for Railways and repealing Regulation (EC) No 881/2004 (Regulation (EU) 2016/796) (OJ L 138/1 of 2016). A railway undertaking with an area of operation only within the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria can choose whether to submit the request for a Single Safety Certificate to the national safety authority, in this case, the Railway Administration Executive Agency or to ERA.

Applicants can use the Guide to the Single Safety Certificate to submit an application.
